This is a drawing I did for Utne Reader, for a piece called The Vanishing, about a young writer disappearing in the 1920s, by Paul Collins. Thanks to Stephanie for the fun assignment!
I just read an incredible comic by Katsuhiro Otomo, the guy who did Akira, called Domu. It is one of the best comics I've ever read, definitely! Here is a link to read it online, it's kind of difficult to get a hard copy of it..
Here are some pieces I did for the new issue of Port magazine, about the Pioneer 10 space probe, the way the brain works, and po'boys. There is also an interview with David Remnick in the issue, and I think it is the first magazine interview he's done, which is pretty cool. Thanks to Kuchar for the great assignment!
My favorite illustrator, Tomi Ungerer, was signing books at the Phaidon bookstore and Books of Wonder today, so I went to both places listen to and draw him. Oh man, he is so awesome!
I was born, raised and educated in Manhattan and still live here, drawing full-time. Clients include The New Yorker, The New York Times, Fantagraphics, MTV, IFC Films, Random House, The Believer, Bloomberg, J Walter Thompson, The National Polytechnic Institute of Mexico City and many more. I also draw the weekly Metro Diary illustration for The New York Times.
