Post Number 121

Here is a drawing for this week's New Yorker, for a review of the movie L'Enfance Nue, directed by Maurice Pialat. The movie wasn't available at the video store near my house, and the New Yorker didn't have a copy for me to watch, but it has been compared to Truffaut's The 400 Blows, and seems like a really interesting movie about a confused and angry kid with no real family. Read the review here. You can see L'Enfance Nue at the French Institute Alliance Française on April 6th.
On a related note, I watched Make Way For Tomorrow last night; a movie so sad that Orson Welles said it "could make a rock cry." Yeah, it was pretty sad.

This is a drawing/collage I did for the Assembled Picture Library of New York, a project put together by Jason Polan and Robin Cameron. It was a lot of fun, and I should have posted about it sooner. All the collages and drawings done were then collected into a big book. Jordin Isip, Taylor McKimens and Jemme Aldridge all did pretty awesome things for it.

Here is the link to an interview I did over at the blog Vanishing New York. The interview was mainly about the Meatpacking series I did a little while ago. It is awesome to be on a blog I look at pretty much everyday, and Jeremiah, the guy who runs it, does an incredible job of keeping track of all the melancholic events that take place in New York everyday. The interview also got a write up over at The New York Times City Room blog as well, which is pretty cool too. If you want to check that out, just scroll down the page a little bit; it's the second thing in bold type.

Okay, I am basically re-posting old drawings, but whatever:

That is the cover for the new comics and drawings collection I am making for MoCCA. It should be done soon, and, like the one I did last year, be mostly made up of stuff I post on this blog.

And that is the comic Oh man, which is going to be in the new issue of Desert Island's Smoke Signal. I had never drawn a comic so big for anything (10x 15) and it was a lot of fun. Thanks Gabe, for putting it in!
